There are two new additions to the great team at Czech School of California. A new Executive Director, Vladi Harris, has joined the team and our long-standing teacher Jana Wichova, has stepped up to become Director of Education to help the school thrive and navigate through some challenging times that are ahead of us.
New Executive Director
With a background in public relations and communications, Vladi is bringing a wealth of experience in relationship management, partner affiliations and community engagement as well as enthusiasm for Czech education and culture.
Vladi is, as many of you, a parent of children attending our Saturday classes. She is very excited to be joining our fantastic team of teachers and professionals that are making it possible for our children to not only learn the Czech language – but also to experience our national culture, traditions and hospitality through activities and events taking place outside of the classroom.
“I am very excited to be joining the team at Czech School of California and having the opportunity to personally influence the future direction of the school,” Vladi said of her appointment. “I have a huge admiration for what the Board and everyone at Czech School of California have created and I am delighted to apply my skills and experience to further build on the school’s already well-established reputation. Czech traditions and culture are very close to my heart and I am honored to have the opportunity to support the school’s efforts in creating a strong Czech community here for our future generations.”
You will soon start seeing Vladi around, virtually in our communications, and in person. As she settles in, do not hesitate to get in touch with her at any time with your concerns, ideas, and views at vharris.csoc@gmail.com.
New Director of Education
Taking over from Bara Brehovska in the role of Director of Education will be another long-standing member of our teaching team, Jana Wichova. Jana will apply her experience and knowledge of the school processes to oversee our introduction of 6th grade for the very first time, help direct and shape our curriculum and refine teaching methods. Bara will remain on our team as a beloved teacher, taking time off managing things and focusing on the education and wellbeing of our students and their families.
Whilst our community needs to evolve and adapt, everyone at Czech School of California is fully committed to continuing to provide the best education and social activities for Czech-speaking children in the Bay area.
