Czech School of California

Newest members of our team

As summer is just around the corner, our preparation for the fall semester 2016 is in full swing. Thanks to your generous support, support of our community and our partners, we are growing fast. We are happy and proud to introduce you today to our newest members of our team:

Teacher and event coordinator

Tereza Knappkova
Teacher and event coordinator

*currently enrolled in early childhood education college program

Tereza has been with the school from almost the beginning, she joined our team in 2013. Her focus is on the preschool age group – as she was responsible for the class of “Broucci” in San Francisco in fall 2014.

Tereza is very creative and her role consist of designing and event coordinating – so you might have already met her at one of our many culture/school events. She also very actively volunteered at the class of “Broucci” in Palo Alto this year.

In her free time, Tereza enjoys making flower arrangements, wreaths and other door decorations. “It is really important to keep Czech language in our family, as my parents don’t speak English. And knowing how easily my two boys can lose the language, I feel very lucky having such a great Czech school here. It’s also a great honor for me to be part of the team and I am looking forward to my teaching years ahead,” said Tereza.

Vera Villepigue

Vera Villepigue
Teacher and newsletter coordinator

*currently enrolled in early childhood education college program

Verka has been connected with our school since 2013, when she first volunteered at couple of our cultural events.

Verka is currently responsible for issuing the school newsletter. Your kids might recognize her from the campus, where she has been “shadowing” our teacher Petra Fibrichova this semester – in order to get to know the kids well and fully understand, how our classes work.

Verka is looking forward to continue with the excellent work Mrs. Fibrichova has started with our preschool classes “Broucci”.

In her free time (if there is any, being a mom of a 10-month old Sebastian) she enjoys reeding, listening to the music and dancing. Teaching has been her longtime dream. As a Czech mom living in the US, she is fully aware of the importance keeping the Czech culture and language alive within our families. “It is an honor to be part of the Czech school of California team and I can’t simply wait to start teaching the class of Broucci,” said Verka.

Jana Wichova

Jana Wichova
Certified teacher

Jana is a certified teacher with 8 years of experiences with teaching kids in the Czech Republic. Jana is pretty new to the Bay area, as she came here only recently, but she is very excited to be part of such a thriving Czech community.

Jana is very energetic and creative and we strongly believe, that she is going to be a great substitute teacher for Blanka N. (now teaching 3rd and 4th graders), who is leaving us this summer. Jana has been “shadowing” Blanka this last semester again in order to learn about our teaching techniques, how the school functions and how she can continue with the terrific work Blanka has started. Most probably, Jana is going to teach our 3rd and 4th graders in the fall semester.

Jana has two children and enjoys Bikram Yoga and loves hiking with her dog. “I am happy to be part of the Czech school and help kids with our language and culture,” said Jana.
